Become a Member
By becoming a member of Fossil Free California, you are joining a movement of California workers and community members dedicated to creating a worker- and community- oriented transition to a just, affordable, and fossil free California.
Fossil Free California is member-led – our campaigns are shaped and carried out by members like you!
As a member you will receive:
- A FFCA sticker;
- Monthly internal campaign updates;
- Invitations to our quarterly org-wide meetings to set upcoming campaign priorities and major organizational decisions; and
- Vote on organizational decisions.
Fossil Free California members organize for our shared goals and pay dues to support our mission. Dues* are paid on a sliding scale. We offer suggestions below:
- $5/month – you keep a tight budget and have little flexible money to spend
- $15/month – you make a living wage or are financially comfortable
- $45/month – you make a high income or have access to inherited wealth
*If dues at any level are a financial hardship, feel free to reach out to Quinn Eide at quinn@fossilfreeca.org and we’re happy to waive the dues.
Why Dues?
Accountability: This structure helps members take ownership and leadership in the organization, and keeps FFCA accountable to our members.
Financial stability: Monthly membership dues give us a funding base that we can rely on, allowing us to build long-term campaign strategies without funding uncertainty.
Independence: When we rely primarily on foundation or corporate funding, we end up tailoring our strategies to funders’ values and priorities. A membership structure helps us focus on the work that we believe is most valuable, strategic, and visionary.
People power: Fossil fuel and big tech executives have billions of dollars to push their agenda. But we have the people! To defend our planet and our democracy, we need to grow our movement and build a powerful organization.
